It is that glorious time of year again, when we raise our glasses in celebration of our quest and insatiable appetite for tasty craft beer! For six years, Bocktown’s founder and Beertriarch, Chris Dilla, has led us in the reading and signing of the Declaration of Beerdependence, which is our pledge to stay true to our palates and hearts while embracing one of life’s finest pleasures, BEER!

Bart Walker – Guitars/Vocals – Bart was recently awarded the prestigious Gibson Guitar Best Blues Guitarist in the 2012 International Blues Challenge. In addition to his current role as lead guitarist for B.B. King’s All-Stars at B.B. King’s Blues Club, he has also chalked up countless hours in the studio with Steve Gorman (Black Crows), A.J. Croce (son of Jim Croce), Bo Bice, Audly Freed. (Cry Of Love & Black Crows), and Robert Kearns (Lynyrd Skynyrd).

Reese Wynans – Keyboards –  Reese joined Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble in 1985, playing keyboards on Soul to Soul and In Step. Wynans performed with the group until Vaughan’s death in 1990. Prior to, he was a member of the Second Coming, which, from November 1968 to Feb 1969 also included two future and founding members of The Allman Brothers Band: guitarist Dickey Betts and bassist Berry Oakley.

Paul Ossola – Bass – Paul was a recent Grammy Winner in 2011 with Levon Helm- Live at the Ryman.  He has also appeared on the David Letterman Show, the Conan O’Brian Show,  The Tonight Show
and alongside G.E. Smith in the Saturday Night Live Band.

Jim Thistle – Drums – Thistle’s played drums in support of tours or recording sessions for acts such as Josh Gracin, the Dixie Chicks, and Kenny Chesney, and most recently newcomer David Nail, and a veteran, Buzz Cason, whose original songs have been recorded by an incredible span of artists stretching from The Beatles to U2.

The Bart Walker Band placed 2nd in the overall competition out of 228 competing bands in the 2012 Gibson International Blues Challenge.

The Breadline Preachers:

Formerly known as Chuck Beatty and Stanley J, the duo have been performing their very own style of authentic, back-porch blues together since 2005. Originally members of the Pittsburgh blues/roots band Boss Diablo and now playing together as a bona fide blues duo, the two musicians have developed a solid chemistry and craftsmanship for their music.

Meet and greet and taste with owner and brewer Shawn Gentry. He might not say much, but the excellence of this Mt. Pleasant brew certainly speaks for his creative mind!

 

And not to be forgotten, our feature menu for the day will include some new menu items and old favorites brought to you by Chef Michael:

Jalapeno Popper Dip- Just the right amount of spice, served with pretzel bread

Pittsburgh Poutine- A flat belly portion of our fresh cut fries with Arsenal cheese curds our beef gravy

Polish Hill Mussels – finished with a savory kielbasa chive sauce

Grilled Swordfish Vera Cruz – finished with a garlic, olive, caper and tomato

Grilled Watermelon Salad – one of our favorite summer salads is back!

Dilla’s Delmonico- finished Chris’ favorite way, well seasoned and grilled to order, topped with Blue Affinee and onion crisps

Our Beerdependence Day Celebration is always a great time! Remember to plan for a designated driver, as the festivities do require lots of cheersing! A great option, is the Pear Cares. You drive your car, and they come and drive your car home! It’s that easy and 1/2 the price of a cab! Be sure to make your reservation with The Pear soon!

21 and over only.  For this event, no minors on will be allowed on premises after 8 pm.

There is no cover charge for this event, so bring lots of friends!
